Union Square, in Baltimore, Maryland, is the location of H.L. Mencken's family home. Mencken spent most of his life here except for the five years of his happy marriage to Sara Haardt, from 1930-35, when they lived on Cathedral Street in Baltimore. She died of tuberculosis in 1935, and he moved back to the house on Hollins street and, sharing the house with his brother August, lived out the rest of his life there.
