C-SPAN Announces A New Television Series
American Writers II: The 20th Century
March-July 2002

(Name of system) is proud to support C-SPAN's latest historical television series—American Writers II: The 20th Century airing on C-SPAN, channel (x).

From March to July 2002, C-SPAN will look at the lives and works of selected American writers who have chronicled, reflected upon or influenced the course of our nation's history and explore what their works mean to Americans today.

In this series, C-SPAN takes viewers around the country to historic sites, birthplaces and homes associated with the lives and works of these great American writers for a new live program each week. Travel to Harlem to explore Harlem Renaissance writers including Zora Neale Hurston and Langston Hughes. Visit Key West to discover the life and works of Ernest Hemingway. Learn about Neil Sheehan, David Halberstam and the Vietnam War writers in Washington, DC. Every program will feature these writers' novels, speeches, diaries, essays and life stories, creating a snapshot of American history.

American Writers II airs LIVE weekly on C-SPAN beginning March 31, 2002, at 3pm ET*. A new program airs each Sunday afternoon March to July 2002. C-SPAN will re-air each week's program on Friday night at 8pm ET*. This video record is especially useful for educators and others who want comprehensive access to our programming.
